I've managed to recover from this maybe once where I could kill explorer and some other hung processes and get the desktop to come back.

A couple of times I've managed to connect to the PC via a remote command line or powershell session if the wifi actually connects or if the ethernet reconnects after being reconnected to the dock.

The mouse might still respond at least for a while but normally from what I've seen the desktop goes white and completely unresponsive or the open programs just appear to be grayed out. So what happens is that basically everything just locks up. If anyone else has experienced similar issues that would also be nice to know. I've also reached out to Dell on this to see if they have any solutions. I'm drawing a blank as to where to go from all the diagnosing I've done so far, so if anyone has any thoughts I welcome the input. One other thing that appears to exacerbate the issue is some of the users that use Microsoft Teams seem to have more frequent issues.

The driver updates seem to have decreased the frequency of the problems on some systems, but has not solved it. We normally end up having to hard power down the laptops and do a complete reboot. Unfortunately I cannot find any Windows event logs that show anything specific and the freezing does not get logged either. All of the laptops are fully updated with the latest DisplayLink dock drivers, latest BIOS, and running Wind(Enterprise) and running with all updates.

The issue seems to be related to programs not properly switching network connectivity from wired to wireless and back. We have a number of Dell Latitude 7480 laptops with Dell D6000 docks that have frequent freezing issues when docking and un-docking.

If the "GeForce GTX 1050" application icon isn't available assure the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock eGPU is powered up and showing an orange or green light, connected to the Thunderbolt port on the the ThinkPad, and restart Windows.I've got an issue that's come up recently at work and I've done about all I can think of to figure out how to resolve it, so I'm throwing this out to the all the experts here to see if anyone can suggest something I haven't tried. Clicking the icon will give you further details. The icon will be gray if no programs are using the dock and colorful if programs are.

This application can be used to verify what software such as SolidWorks is using the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 eGPU Dock. Verify that the "GeForce GTX 1050" application icon is available in the Windows system tray in the bottom right of the Window. You may be prompted to "Accept the Device", choose "Accept".ġ1. This driver allows Windows to recognize the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock eGPU as the "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050" in the Windows device manager.ĩ. When this driver installation is run it may only give you the option to reinstall. Download and run the “ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock” eGPU driver from the page. Plug in the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock eGPU and AC power connection.Ĩ. Start the computer and boot into Windows.ħ. Press F10 to "Save and Exit" and then click “Yes” to exit the BIOS.Ħ. This allows the eGPU to be plugged in to the Gen 6 without Windows errors.ĥ. Change the "Security Level" to either "No Security". Change the "Thunderbolt in BIOS Assist Mode" to “Enabled". Once in the BIOS menu, go to use arrow keys to get to "Configure" -> "Thunderbolt ™3".Ĥ. Power on the machine and at the red Lenovo screen press "Enter" to get the boot up menu, then press "F1" to get into the BIOS menu.ģ.
